(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – Five persons were confirmed dead and 17 others were injured when a massive tree fell on a passenger bus in Kollupitiya early this morning.
According to the Deputy Director of the Colombo National Hospital, Dr. Rukshan Bellana, the condition of several people who were hospitalized is serious.
The massive roadside tree uprooted and fell on the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) plying from Deniyaya to Colombo on Duplication Road near the Liberty Roundabout at around 6 this morning.
The police said the road has been blocked due to the accident and traffic along the Duplication Road has been restricted.
