SEC /CSE and Ministry of Education establishes Capital Market Clubs in the Uva Province.

(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – The Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC) and the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) in collaboration with Ministry of Education recently conducted a ceremony in Badulla to establish Capital Market Clubs in 10 selected schools with highest Z scores in Commerce stream in the Uva Province.

This is in line with the special project put forwarded by the President of Sri Lanka, H.E Ranil Wickramasinghe to launch Capital Market Clubs in 100 schools across Sri Lanka, to provide an exposure on capital market related activities for school students whilst uplifting the financial literacy of the country.

The event was held at Vishaka Girls’ High School Badulla and was attended by Mr. D. M. P. K. Dissanayake Deputy Director – Commerce Provincial Education Department Uva Province, Mr. Tushara Jayaratne, Deputy Director General SEC Mr. Niroshan Wijesundere Senior Vice President Marketing CSE, Ms. D. M. L. Dassanayake – Principal Vishaka Girls’ High School, Mr. Nishantha Batagalle Manager Branch Network CSE, Mr. Kamal Jayaweera Manager Ambalantota Branch CSE and the Presidents of Capital Market Clubs in the selected schools in the Province.

Charter Certificates were presented to all selected participated schools in the region.

The SEC and the CSE intends to establish Capital Market Clubs in other selected schools of the eight provinces by the end of November this year.
