Thirteen New Puppies Born to Strengthen Sri Lanka’s Police Dog Division

(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) –  The Police Media Division announced that two of the pregnant dogs recently added to the police department have given birth to 13 puppies.

These pups were born to Denperds and Lia, two of the 35 dogs brought from the Netherlands last Friday to join the official police dog team. The breeds imported include Belgian Malinois, German Shepherd, and English Springer Spaniel.

The puppies, along with their mothers, are in good health at the Asgiriya Police Dog Headquarters in Kandy, under the supervision of Dr. Amal Dissanayake from the Police Dog Division.

At a time when canine assistance is crucial for combating the drug menace and preventing crimes in the country, security officials have expressed their gratitude to Securatec Lanka Pvt. Limited, the company responsible for managing the project to bring these specially selected dogs to Sri Lanka.
