Sri Lanka’s new Cabinet to be sworn in tomorrow

(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) –  The Cabinet Ministers of the new government will be sworn in before President Anura Kumara Dissanayake at 10.00 a.m. tomorrow (Nov. 18) at the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo, the President’s Media Division (PMD) said.

The senior spokesman of the National People’s Power (NPP) Tilvin Silva had said earlier that the Cabinet will be limited to 25 or even less and that there will be scientific method in allocation of subjects for the ministries.

However, the inaugural session of the Tenth Parliament, comprising of members elected through the 2024 General Election held on November 14, is scheduled to commence on November 21, as per the Extraordinary Gazette Notification No. 2403/13 dated 2024.09.24 issued by the President.

The NPP on Friday (Nov. 15) swept the Parliamentary elections by winning a two-thirds majority, securing a record-breaking 159 seats in total.
