Calypso Train Earns Over One Million Rupees in a Day

(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – The Calypso train, which has become a major attraction for both local and international tourists, earned a record income of over 1 million rupees on February 17, according to Railway General Manager Dhammika Jayasundara.

Typically generating around 500,000 rupees daily, the Calypso train recorded its highest earnings yet, with a daily expenditure of approximately 400,000 rupees.

With increasing interest from tourists eager to experience the scenic upcountry railway, tickets for the Calypso train sell out quickly online. The train also allows brief stops near Demodara and the Ella Arch 9 Bridge to enhance the sightseeing experience.

The Railway General Manager emphasized the department’s commitment to generating revenue for the government while providing exceptional service to passengers.
