(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) –The High Commission of India in Colombo has launched a quiz competition in Sri Lanka focusing on the life of The Buddha and various sites/places associated with Buddhism, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the State Ministry of Dhamma School, Piriven & Bhikku Education of Sri Lanka.

Tourism Minister instructs to lift restrictions imposed on Mirissa whale watching boats

(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) –Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga has instructed the authorities to take steps to lift the restrictions imposed by the Wildlife Department on the Mirissa Whale Watching boat tour operators ensuring that whale watching tourists are not hindered while whales are not harmed.

Strict and prompt action being taken by the GoSL under the auspices of the Ministry of Defence to combat Human Trafficking

(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) –Through a policy decision taken by the Cabinet of Ministers in July this year, the Chairmanship of the Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force was shifted from the Ministry of Justice to the Ministry of Defence, with a view to establishing an enhanced institutional mechanism that directly coordinates with the Investigation Authorities and the Intelligence Services to combat human trafficking.

Minister of Health appoints a committee to look into the problems in the medical service

(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) –Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella has appointed a committee chaired by a retired Court of Appeal judge to look into issues in the medical service. The Ministry of Health has also decided to publish the annual transfer list of specialist doctors soon.
