First super blue moon lunar eclipse after 152 years

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –For the first time since 1866, three lunar events will coincide on the same day – A blood moon total lunar eclipse, a super moon and a blue moon will be visible to us on 31st January 2018 at the moon rise in the eastern horizon after 6.15 p.m. – Professor in Physics, and Director, Astronomy and Space Science Unit of the University of Colombo Prof. Chandana Jayaratne said.

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –Minister of Finance and Mass Media Mangala Samaraweera said that literary works in Sinhala, Tamil and English fostered greater understanding and reconciliation between Sri Lankans. Research study uses sounds of disturbed honey bees to scare away Sri Lankan elephants

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –A research study published in Current Biology reports that the Sri Lankan elephants are scared of the sounds of honey bees and the honey bee colonies can be used to deter the elephants from roaming into villages and destroying the farmers’ cultivations.
