Basil Rajapaksa indicted for misusing Government funds

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – Former Economic Affairs Minister Basil Rajapaksa has been indicted in the Colombo High Court for misusing Government funds. He was indicted over allegations of using Government funds amounting to Rs. 29.4 million to print almanacs with the image of Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa for Presidential Election campaign in 2015.

Request to postpone St. Anthony’s festival rejected

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – The Tamil Nadu Coordinator for the Kachchativu St. Anthony’s festival, Fr. Sahayaraj, had asked for a postponement of the event fixed for Sunday (12), but the Jaffna Diocese had informed him that it could not be postponed for reasons beyond their control, The New Indian Express reported.

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Minister Mahinda Amaraweera who has drawn immediate attention to allegations made by Indian fishermen regarding the death of an Indian fisherman, has written to the Defence Ministry Secretary to launch an immediate investigation into the matter to elicit true information.
