UNICEF supports Ministry of Health to accelerate supplementary measles immunization activity in Sri Lanka

(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – UNICEF, together with WHO, will support the Ministry of Health in implementing a supplementary measles immunization activity (SIA) in Sri Lanka aimed at controlling the ongoing measles outbreak, midst over 700 measles cases reported in the country since May 2023.

Child Welfare and Child Justice in Sri Lanka – no time like the present for reform

(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) –  On November 17th, the parliament of Sri Lanka passed long-awaited amendments to the Children and Young Persons Ordinance (CYPO). This is the key legalization that governs the child welfare and child justice system in Sri Lanka but dates back to 1939. The main recent amendments relate to the age of a child.
