(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –The ‘Grama Shakthi’ national program will commence tomorrow (20th Oct.) at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena.
A gathering of nearly 5,000 from 1,000 Grama Niladari divisions are expected to participate on this occasion.
Under this program, 700 Grama Niladari Divisions will be selected in Divisional Secretariat Division level this year and people’s companies will be established. The representatives of these peoples companies will be trained to eliminate the poverty in the village and development funds will be released to these companies, where each company will be released Rs. one million by the end of 2017.
This public-private and people’s partnership based program will be allocated Rs 6,000 million in 2018.
