Legal action will be taken if public peace is obstructed at the JO rally – IGP

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – Inspector General of Police (IGP) Pujith Jayasundara says highest possible legal action will be taken in the event of obstructing people’s lives and public peace at the joint opposition’s protest scheduled to be held in Colombo on September 5th.

The Inspector General of Police requoted the organizers of the rally to protest in a manner that does not interfere with public’s day-to-day life and peace.

The IGP said Police Special Task Force (STF) will be deployed for the security in the Colombo city on the 5th and several special police teams from outskirts will be called to the city.

The IGP further said special security will be provided to the parliament and other important establishments and special police intelligence units, riot squads and police vehicles will be kept on alert.

He said the DIGs had also been summoned and given instructions regarding the security during the JO protest
