(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –Four people were killed and eight others were seriously injured in a road accident along the Colombo – Puttalam main road in the Nagawilluwa area in pre-dawn hours of Monday, according to the Puttalam Police.
A van heading from Jaffna to Colombo has collided head-on with a tipper truck of a Puttalam cement company at around 1:45 a.m. today.
Eight people traveling in the van including the driver have been seriously injured and admitted to the Puttalam hospital and two of them have been transferred to Colombo National Hospital.
It is reported that one of the victim is a pregnant woman. Among the injured is a small child, the police said.
The driver of the tipper truck has been arrested in connection with the accident. Puttalam Police are conducting further investigations
