(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –Parliamentarian, the Venerable Athuraliye Rathana Thero, who began a hunger strike on Friday opposite the Sri Dalada Maligawa temple (Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic), ended his strike this afternoon.
The Venerable Athuraliye Rathana Thero launched the strike demanding the removal of Minister Rishad Bathiudeen and Governors M.L.A.M Hizbullah and Azath Salley.
Hizbullah and Azath Salley resigned from their posts earlier today.
The Venerable Athuraliye Rathana Thero was briefed on the resignation and he called off his strike.
The monk was later taken to the Kandy General hospital for treatment.
