Polonnaruwa Poson Maha Bath Dansala held for the 59th occasion near Polonnaruwa Parakrama Samudraya

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –The Polonnaruwa Poson Maha Bath Dansala, organized annually by the Polonnaruwa Buddhist Association was held for the 59th occasion for two days near the Polonnaruwa Parakrama Samudraya was opened for pilgrims by President Maithripala Sirisena, who is the Chairman of the Polonnaruwa Buddhist Association, yesterday(16).

The Dansala is organized annually under the guidance of President Sirisena serves thousands of devotees who visit Polonnaruwa to worship ancient places of cultural importance.

After offering almsgiving to the mahasangha the Bath Dansala was opened by the President. The special sermon on this occasion was delivered by the Chief Sangha Nayaka of North, North-central and Eastern Provinces, Chief Incumbent of Isipathanarama Ven. Udagama Dhammananda Thero.

The President also engaged in a cordial discussion with the people who visited the dansala.

The Governor of the North Western Province, Peshala Jayarathna, Siripala Gamlath, MP, Polonnaruwa Mayor Chanaka Sidath Ranasinghe, Secretary to the President, Udaya R. Seneviratne, Secretary to the Ministry of Mahaweli Development and Environment , Anura Dissanayake and the Secretary of the Polonnaruwa Buddhist Association, W.G. Somarathna and the Treasurer Anura Wijesinghe participated on this occasion.
