South African President meets PM during brief visit to Sri Lanka

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –South African President Cyril Ramaphosa made a brief visit to Sri Lanka this morning en route to Osaka, Japan to attend the G20 Summit.

The South African leader and his delegation were received by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and Minister Arjuna Ranatunga at the Bandaranaike International Airport.

Following a reception at the VVIP lounge of the airport, Prime Minister Wickremesinghe and the President Ramaphosa held discussions on a number of issues.

The discussions focused on safeguarding free navigation and peace in the Indian and Pacific Ocean zones and the new development projects being implemented in Sri Lanka.

The South African President has also expressed his regret over the attack in the country on Easter Sunday.

After refueling, the special plane carrying the South African President and the delegation left for Japan at around noon
