(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –Sri Lanka Navy has arrested five individuals who had reached the northwestern shores in a boat from India in an attempt to enter the country illegally through the seas.
The suspects were taken into custody by a team of officers from the Talaimannar Navy Base during a routine patrol in the northwestern seas.
The arrested persons are residents of Pesalai, Jaffna, Talaimannar and Mannar.
The suspects are to be produced before the Mannar Magistrate’s Court today.
The Talaimannar Police are conducting further investigations.
