(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – The number of students receiving the Grade Five scholarship has been increased from 15,000 to 20,000, the Ministry of Education states.
The Ministry said steps have been taken to provide scholarships to 250 students with special needs who sat for this year’s Grade Five Scholarship Examination.
Students who receive scholarships are selected based on the marks obtained at the scholarship examination. But the students with special needs have been selected tore receive scholarships for taking the examination.
The students will receive scholarships from grade six to grade 13.
The Ministry of Education states that steps have also been taken to increase the scholarship allowance from Rs 500 to Rs 750 per month.
