(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe says proposals put forward by Mahinda Rajapaksa when he was President will be considered to devolve powers to the provinces.
Speaking in Batticaloa yesterday, Wickremesinghe said that the United National Front is determined to devolve powers to the provinces.
He said that he is determined to ensure a political solution to the country by devolving powers to the provinces.
The Prime Minister said that a proposal to devolve powers will be drafted by considering proposals made by former Presidents Ranasinghe Premadasa, Chandrika Kumaratunga and Mahinda Rajapaksa.
He also warned that the Rajapaksa camp is looking to promote extremism and protect their own interests.
