(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –The main suspect, who allegedly directed the assassination of former Municipal Councilor Ranjan Silva, the father of national cricketer Dananjaya de Silva, has been arrested in the United Arab Emirates.
Police Media Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said the suspect Dharmasiri Perera was arrested by the Abu Dhabi Police on Sunday (29) following an Interpol red notice.
Further Investigations have revealed that the suspect, who had fled the country following the assassination of the former municipal councilor and was living in the United Arab Emirates, was involved in a number of other crimes.
Accordingly, the Mount Lavinia Senior Superintendent of Police had obtained an international warrant from the court for the arrest of Dharmasiri Perera a few months ago and submitted it to Interpol.
He was arrested by Abu Dhabi police on Sunday after Interpol informed Interpol in the United Arab Emirates.
