(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has given instructions to the State Minister of Livestock, Farm Promotion and Dairy & Egg Related Industries D. B. Herath to resolve the problems large and small scale egg producers are facing, the Prime Minister’s Office said.
The Prime Minister advised the State Minister while participating in a discussion with the director boards of Large and Small Scale Egg Producers’ Associations through Internet Zoom Technology.
The director boards of the Egg Producers’ Associations forwarded several requests including reducing the price of a breeding animal from Rs. 220 to Rs. 175, limiting the number of mother animals imported per year to 80,000, obtaining loan concessions for the purchase and storage of animal feed and stopping the activities of three illegal breeding centers to the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister briefed the officials immediately on the provision of the relevant loan relief facilities and instructed Minister of State DB Herath to resolve other issues.
It was also revealed that the market egg prices have come down.
