Laksala, Salusala chairman Pradeep Gunawardena dies of COVID-19

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – Chairman of Laksala & Salusala and Former Chairman of Lankapuvath Pradeep Gunawardena has died early this morning (17) while receiving treatment for COVID-19 infection.

He had died while being treated for the infection at the Sir John Kotelawala Defense University Hospital in Werahera.

An engineer by profession, Pradeep Gunawardena has also served as Consul General of Sri Lanka in Los Angeles, Chairman of the State Trading Corporation and the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Standards Institution.

He was the organizer of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party in Colombo East and was the coordinating officer of former Minister Vajira Abeywardena as well as the media secretary of former Minister Tyrone Fernando. He is a past pupil of Ananda College, Colombo.
