(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – The Director General of Health Services has issued a series of instructions stating that a maximum of 15 employees can be called to work at a time to maintain the provision of banking and financial services during travel restrictions.
Following a written request by the Governor of the Central Bank to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) for permission to continue the provision of essential banking and financial services, the Director General of Health Services has issued a series of instructions regarding the operation of banking and financial services islandwide during the travel restrictions.
The instructions have been given to maintain the relevant services, after the IGP forwarded the request to the Director General of Health Services.
Accordingly, all bank branches and non-banking financial institutions should call for a maximum of 15 employees per branch at a time while the relevant branch managers should decide on the employees to be called and submit the list to the relevant police station.
Accordingly, the police officers should allow only the staff named in the list to travel after they are satisfied with the employee’s identity, the IGP C.D. Wickramaratne has informed the senior police officers.
The guidelines further state that banks are not open to customers and only internal activities are allowed during the period of travel restrictions.
