(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – The government has taken steps to ensure that all queues for essential items will be eliminated within the next two to three weeks, Lasantha Alagiyawanna, State Minister of Co-operative Services, Marketing Development and Consumer Protection said.
He made this observation responding to a question raised by the media at a discussion held at the SLFP headquarters yesterday (11) with political parties not represented in Parliament under the program to strengthen the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA)
Speaking further Alagiyawanna said as a country today the people have to face the epidemic with great difficulty and inconvenience. “Therefore, I wish the Minister of Finance the strength, courage and luck to be able to get rid of those difficulties.”
“The whole world is facing the problem of cost of living. We have to face that challenge. As a government we will do our utmost for that. We have already solved the problem of people being in queues. The government has taken the necessary steps to eliminate all queues for essential items within the next two to three weeks,” the state minister said.
