(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) –Sri Lanka’s nationwide inflation in November 2021 determined under the National Consumer Price Index (NCPI) rose to 11.1 percent from 8.3 percent recorded in October 2021 on a year-on-year basis, the Department of Census and Statistics reported Tuesday.
The NCPI for all items for the month of November 2021 increased to 155.3 from 150.6 in the previous month.
With respect to November 2020, the reported inflation for the month of November 2021 was mainly due to the higher price levels prevailed in both food and non-food groups in the month of November 2021.
Accordingly, the Year-on-Year inflation of the food group increased to 16.9 percent in November 2021 from 11.7 percent in October 2021 and the Year-on-Year inflation of the non-food group increased to 6.2 percent in November 2021 from 5.4 percent in October 2021.
Contributions to the inflation rate of November 2021 from food group and non-food group are 7.83 percent and 3.32 percent respectively.
The moving average inflation for the month of November 2021 is 6.2 percent. The corresponding rate for the month of October 2021 is 5.7 percent.
