President to consider Bar Association’s proposals to overcome political and economic crises

(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – Sri Lanka President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has said that he will give consideration to the proposals presented by the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) to overcome the current political and economic instability, within Constitutional provisions.

The President made this observation at a meeting with the Executive Council of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka held at the President’s House in Colombo Fort yesterday (08).

Based on the current situation, the Bar Association of Sri Lanka presented 13 major resolutions to its Executive Council and passed them unanimously.

The President’s Media Division said the President discussed how the resolutions would be implemented in the future and emphasized the importance of upholding the rule of law.

All proposals were taken into consideration during the lengthy discussion between the President and the Executive Council of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka on these proposals, The President’s Media Division said.

President of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka President’s Counsel Saliya Peiris, Secretary Isuru Balapatabendi and other members of the Executive Council were present at the discussion.
