(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – A total of 664 persons have been arrested in connection with the attacks on protesters at Temple Trees and Galle Face and subsequent violent acts around the country, Police Media Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa said.
Out of them, 272 persons have been remanded after producing before the Court.
He said that these individuals were arrested based on 791 police complaints received to the Police Stations.
The highest number of complaints was from the Western Province and the corresponding number was 444.
The number of complaints in the Southern Province stood at 118.
