SLAF STANDBY FOR SEARCH AND RESCUE OPERATIONS DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER CONDITIONS

(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – SLAF is on standby to deploy aircraft and rescue personnel (first responders) to undertake search and rescue operations under the instructions by the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana in the event of disaster situation in flood and landslide prone areas in the island that may occur with the activation of the Southwest Monsoon.

The surveillance aircraft, helicopters and specially trained Regimental Special Forces from SLAF Bases Ratmalana, Katunayake and Hingurakgoda are currently on standby to provide humanitarian assistance and disaster relief to victims.
