(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) –Sri Lanka’s largest state owned retail chain Lanka Sathosa has taken steps to reduce the prices of five essential foods from today (23), Lanka Sathosa Chairman Pasanda Yapa Abeywardena said.
Accordingly, the price of a kilo of imported samba rice has been reduced to Rs. 194 and price of a kilo of imported Nadu rice has been reduced Rs. 198.
The price of a kilo of red lentils has been reduced to Rs. 460.
The price of a kilo of brown sugar has been reduced to Rs. 310 and the price of sprats per kg to Rs. 1,375.
The price of a kilo of dry chillies has been reduced to Rs. 1,690.
Lanka Sathosa Chairman further said plans are afoot to reduce the prices of several other types of food in the future.
