(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – An Extraordinary Gazette notification has been issued stipulating that the importers of pre-packed goods should declare the maximum retail price for five goods and products imported into Sri Lanka.
Extraordinary Gazette notification in this regard has been issued by the Chairman of the Consumer Affairs Authority, Shantha Niriella under Section 10(1)(b)(ii) of the Consumer Affairs Authority, Act, No. 09 of 2003..
The Consumer Affairs Authority has directed that all importers of pre packeted goods, articles and products should declare the Maximum Retail Price, the name and the registered address of the importer clearly denoted on the pack or container of each product or article in the English Language at the point of entry to the Island.
According to this gazette notification, a maximum retail price should be specified for imported Confectionery (including chewing Gum), Chocolates, Biscuits, Cakes and Toilet Soap.
This direction takes effect from Tuesday, November 01.
