CID team heads to Indonesia to probe Sri Lankan businessman’s murder

(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – A special police team of the Criminal Investigation Department is scheduled to go to Indonesia to investigate the mysterious murder of billionaire businessman Mr. Onesh Subasinghe in an apartment complex in Jakarta, Indonesia, according to police headquarters sources.

45-year-old Onesh Subasinghe, the Managing Director at OPEX Holdings, was found dead under suspicious circumstances in an apartment in the Indonesian capital on 03 February.

He was on vacation to Indonesia with his Brazilian wife, Rosa Silva, his daughter, and his wife’s assistant. However, his wife, daughter and the other woman were not found when his body was found.

It is reported that On January 20, Onesh said that he had gone to Indonesia with his wife, daughter and wife’s assistant for a vacation.

Although this crime took place in Indonesia, it appears that the plot to the murder the billionaire businessman took place in Sri Lanka, so the IGP C.D Wickramaratne on February 9 ordered the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to conduct an inquiry into his death.

Accordingly, a team of investigators led by Director CID SSP Kavinda Piyasekara has been appointed to carry out an investigation with the assistance of the Interpol and Indonesian law enforcement.
