(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) –State Minister of Finance Shehan Semasinghe states that the information verification of 30 lakh applications submitted for Samurdhi, will be completed within a few weeks. The state minister stated this during a discussion held in Anuradhapura today.
Furthering, the state minister mentioned that the government has taken steps to reactivate this project by solving all the problems related to transparency in the Samurdhi Program implemented with the aim of uplifting the living conditions of the people who need relief. Accordingly, he mentioned that information verification process was carried out to identify the parties who should definitely receive this benefit within the legal framework and to ensure that no one is left behind.
The state minister also pointed out that there was a delay in the process in the judicial proceedings conducted by various trade unions, but the President’s Office and the Ministry of Finance invited applications through an alternative system to identify the most needed parties.
The state minister also pointed out that international attention has been paid to the importance of focusing on this program and accordingly, it was also mentioned that it is essential to maintain the government’s relief program in a more transparent manner for the people suffering from poverty in developing countries.
