(LANKAPUVATH | C OLOMBO) – State Minister of Finance Shehan Semasinghe states that the government will take every step to stabilize the economic situation in Sri Lanka. The State Minister mentioned this in the discussion held at the Ministry of Finance yesterday (24) with the US Trade Representative for South and Central Asia.
“After the reforms carried out by the government in the last short period of time, we can see a clear stability in the economy of Sri Lanka. But we have implemented the program to create stability in the country’s economy so that the country will not go into such an economic abyss again. The President and the government are always focusing on empowering the people by liberating them from poverty, starting with the formulation of financial policies. The development we see at this time is the empowering of the people. We are implementing a very strong program by securing transparency and communicating every information to the people. People also understood the need for this program and are giving their support.”
Also, Mr. Brendan Lynch, the United States Trade Representative, expressed his appreciation for taking quick steps to stabilize Sri Lanka’s economy.Mr. Brendan Lynch pointed out that the American government is ready to increase investment opportunities and expand foreign trade in Sri Lanka and will support in this.
Mr. Brendan Lynch and others from the US Trade Representative for South and Central Asia, Mr. H.G. Sumanasinghe, Additional Secretary and others representing the Ministry of Finance, participated in this event.
