Rough draft of Labor Law revision expected in June

(LANKAPUVATH | C OLOMBO) – Manusha Nanayakkara, Minister of Labor and Foreign Employment said it is expected to prepare and submit the first rough draft of the labor law revision by the beginning of June.

The Minister said after drafting it, the amendment of the Labor Laws is expected to be submitted to the working people and get approval.

The Ministry of Labor has initiated public consultations on Labor Law Reforms and the fourth session was held today at the Ministry of Labor and Foreign Employment auditorium.

These consultative sessions are held to build a broad social discourse related to the reform of labor laws and after considering all the ideas presented to it, the drafting of the law is done, the Minister of labor said.

Union leaders as well as entrepreneurs and university professors presented their views regarding the amendment of labor laws today.
