A Positive impact on Sri Lanka’s debt restructuring will enhance confidence after the second IMF tranche

(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – State Minister of Finance, Hon. Shehan Semasinghe mentioned that the confidence will be enhanced on Sri Lankan after receiving the second tranche of the International Monetary Fund’s extended fund facility and will have a positive impact on the country’s debt restructuring program.

The Minister further said that the credibility on the economy will be establishd on the economic stability in Sri Lanka while participating as the chief guest at the program held at the Colombo headquarters for the United Nations Day on 24th.

Hon. Semasinghe stated that he greatly appreciates the support given to Sri Lanka by representative agencies of the United Nations and especially during last year when the economic crisis was deepened. He pointing out that Sri Lanka has taken many determined steps to reach the sustainable development goals, and also said that many structural changes have been undertaken to achieve the purpose.

Hon.Semasinghe stated that Sri Lanka is optimistic about receiving the second tranche of USD 330 million from the IMF and will unlock support feom the World Bank, Asian Development Bank and other multilateral financial institutions
The Minister also reiterated appreciation on the continued support provided by the United Nations for a sustainable development of Sri Lanka.
