(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – NPP MP – Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, has been appointed as the 16th Prime Minister of Sri Lanka.
She was sworn in before President Anura Kumara Dissanayake a short while ago today (Sep. 24).
She was also sworn in as the Minister of Justice, Education, Labour, Industries, Science & Tech, Health, and Investment.
A distinguished academic, rights activist and university lecturer, she is the first lady Prime Minister of Sri Lanka since the late Sirimavo Bandaranaike took up office in 1994 and the third lady Prime Minister in the history of Sri Lanka.
