Delegation from Embassy of Netherlands visits the Hambantota International Port

(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) –A delegation from the Embassy of Netherlands in Sri Lanka has visited the Hambantota International Port to explore the potential of the port for future shipping operations.

The delegation including Captain Robert van Bruinessen, Defence Attaché of the Netherlands to Sri Lanka, Deputy Defense Attaché, Mr. Mehender Sripal, Commander -Simon Sikkes -Maritime Industry Liaison Officer Ministry of Defense Netherlands and Mr Anil de Alwis General Manager of Sri Lanka Shipping Co Ltd. toured the Hambantota International Port early this week.

They met with Captain Miyuru Gunasekara and Dilan Silva- Security Specialist of HIPS.

The delegation visited the Hambantota Maritime Center and enjoyed a briefing and bird’s eye view of the port. They took a keen interest in the future developments of the port and the RORO operations and acknowledged the advantage of the ample land available for future industrial development.
