(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has decided to suspend fast bowler Shehan Madushanka from all forms of cricket, with immediate effect, the sport governing body announced Tuesday.
“The decision was taken following the player was arrested by the Police and later sent on remand custody for alleged possession of illegal drugs,” the SLC said in a statement.
The decision to suspend will remain intact until a full inquiry is conducted by the SLC into the matter, it said.
The Police arrested and another individual on Saturday at Pannala when they were travelling in a vehicle in Kuliyapitiya. The Police found 2.7 grams of heroin in the possession of the cricketer.
Madushanka was remanded till June 2 by the Kuliyapitiya Acting Magistrate on the charges of possessing heroin.
