(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – Sri Lanka confirmed nine more deaths on Monday due to COVID -19 raising the death toll from the viral disease to 709, according to health authorities.
The Director General of Health Services confirmed the following deaths caused by COVID -19 virus infection and accordingly the total number of deaths due to COVID -19 infection in Sri Lanka is 709 by now.
01. The deceased is a 44 year old woman from Divulapitiya area. She was diagnosed as infected with Covid 19 and transferred from Kegalle District General Hospital to the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital, where she died on May 01. The cause of death is mentioned as COVID pneumonia.
02. The deceased is a 70 year old woman from Ja-Ela area. She died on May 03 while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Colombo The cause of death is mentioned as COVID pneumonia and hypertension.
03. The deceased is a 42-year-old male resident in Mavilmada area. He was diagnosed as infected with Covid 19 and transferred from Kandy General Hospital to Theldeniya Base Hospital, where he died on May 02. The cause of death is mentioned as COVID pneumonia with heart diseases and acute kidney damage.
04. The deceased is a 68-year-old male resident in Negombo area. He died on May 01 while receiving treatment at Krishnapura Treatment Center in Kilinochchi. The cause of death is mentioned as COVID pneumonia with multiple organ dysfunction.
05. The deceased is a 65-year-old male resident in Malabe area. He died on May 02 while receiving treatment at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases. Causes of death include acute renal failure, COVID pneumonia, hypertension, heart disease Condition and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
06. The deceased is an 82-year-old female resident in Malabe area. She died on May 03 while receiving treatment at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases. The cause of death is mentioned as pneumonia associated with COVID-19.
07. The deceased is a 52-year-old male resident in Borella area. He died on May 02 on admission to the Colombo National Hospital. Causes of death include acute respiratory distress syndrome, COVID pneumonia, hypertension, diabetes, and hypercholesterolemia.
08. The deceased is a 59-year-old male resident in Nuwara Eliya area. He died on May 02 while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Colombo. Causes of death include acute respiratory distress syndrome, COVID pneumonia, heart disease, and diabetes.
09. The deceased is a 59-year-old female resident in Modara area. She died on April 30 on admission to the Colombo National Hospital. The cause of death is mentioned as COVID pneumonia, hypertension, and diabetes.
10. The deceased is a 68-year-old male resident in Nittambuwa area. He died on May 03 while receiving treatment at the Wathupitiwela Base Hospital. The cause of death is mentioned as lung infection associated with COVID-19.
11. The deceased is a 69 year-old male resident in Panadura area. He was diagnosed as infected with Covid 19 and transferred from Panadura Base Hospital to Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital, where he died on May 02. The cause of death is mentioned as COVID pneumonia with acute respiratory distress syndrome.
12. The deceased is a 77-year-old female resident in Bulathsinhala area. She died on April 30 while receiving treatment at Horana Base Hospital. The cause of death is mentioned as COVID pneumonia.
12. The deceased is an 80-year-old female resident in Gampaha area. She was diagnosed as infected with Covid 19 and receiving treatment at Kotelawala defense University Hospital where she died on May 03. The cause of death is mentioned as COVID pneumonia and organ failure.
