Sri Lanka Cricket clarifies the delay in the check-in of Sri Lankan team at the Zimbabwe hotel

(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) issuing a clarification said a delay in the check-in process caused at the hotel where the National Cricket Team is stationed in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, resulted in several national cricket players having to remain in the lobby for some time.

Sri Lankan team is currently in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe to take part in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2023. The Sri Lankan team had left the island early last Saturday morning.

After a nearly 20-hour flight, the Sri Lankan team has arrived at the hotel at noon Sunday, but the Zimbabwe Cricket Institute or the International Cricket Council had not taken steps to provide proper facilities for the players.

The SLC said at the time of the entry, another national cricket team, who arrived just before the Sri Lankan team, was in the process of “checking in.’ and the situation has resulted in a delay in some of the Sri Lankan National Team players being “checked in.’

However, SLC, after reporting this matter to the hotel management, was able to rectify the issue within a short period of time.
