T56 shell casings found in the garbage truck that entered the Sri Dalada Maligawa premises

(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – The police Sunday night (18) have found 32 empty shell casings used for a T56 firearm in a garbage truck belonging to the Kandy Municipal Council which went to enter Sri Dalada Maligawa premises along Raja Street.

During an inspection carried out by the officers of the Raja Street police station in the protected area belonging to Dalada Maligawa, these empty ammunition casings were found in a small fertilizer bag in the lorry.

The driver and assistant of the truck have been arrested by the police.

Under the supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police in charge of Kandy Division Mr. Chamil Ratnayake, a team including Chief Inspector A. Senadheera, OIC of Dalada Maligawa Police, is conducting further investigations into the incident.
