SLT-MOBITEL continues to grow ESG footprint with multiples initiatives in Matale

(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) –  Fostering positive change, and expanding the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) footprint, SLT-MOBITEL, the National ICT Solutions Provider,actively undertooka series of initiatives in Matale recently.

SLT-MOBITEL conducted an ESG program at Kaikawala Central College in Matale and engaged in a meaningful ESG program comprising of four impactful projects. The initiatives included partnering with the STEMUP Foundation to empower student entrepreneurship through STEM education, conducting an enlightening ‘Hour of Code’ workshop, contributing to the ‘SithakAthnamPothakDenna’ book donation program, and promoting environmental sustainability through a tree-planting project.

Supporting another school in the area, the SLT-MOBITEL team also visited theAlakolamada Junior School in Raththota, Matale, a remote area with significant needs, where members of the Marketing Services Division repaired three non-functional computers at the school. Additionally, school bags and exercise books were donated to the students, and a valuable book pack was contributed to the school library. The event also featured a tree-planting initiative within the school premises.

These multiple initiatives saw the active participation of senior officials Nilanthi Jayakody -DGM/Public Relations of SLT, Chathurika Bindusara –Regional Telecom Office Manager/Matale, Romesh John – DGM/Regional Operations of Mobitel,Jagath Punchihewa -District ManagerofMobitel, and other SLT-MOBITEL representatives. The school’s principals, staff, students, and parents also participated in the activities.

These collaborative efforts highlightSLT-MOBITEL’s commitment to ESG values, and the positive impact extendedto education, technology, literacy, and environmental conservation within communities in which the company operates in.
