Remains of second Sri Lankan national killed in Hamas attack on Israel repatriated

(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) –  The body of Sujith Bandara Yatawara, the second Sri Lankan killed in the Hamas attack on Israel last month was repatriated to the island today.

The body of Mr. Sujith Yatawara Bandara was brought from Israel to Dubai, and from there to the Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport air cargo terminal at 08.37 this morning by Fly Dubai Airlines flight FZ-579.

The deceased’s wife Jayani Madhuwanti, 13-year-old daughter, 09-year-old son, State Minister Arundika Fernando, Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau Airport Administration Officer Ashoka Premasiri and other officials were at the cargo terminal to receive the casket.

Ms. Jayani Madhuwanti said that Mr. Sujith Yatawara Bandara’s last rites will be performed at the Wennappuwa, Tulawela, Madawalapitiya Public Cemetery next Saturday (11/11).

The body of the Sri Lankan nurse Anula Jayatilaka Menike, who was killed in the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7th was repatriated to the island on October 28.
